FAQ
These are the questions I get asked most about Klaviyo email marketing. If yours isn’t here, drop me a note.
After a free discovery call, I’ll prepare a proposal for your project. This is our opportunity to confirm our expectations and the overall direction of the project. If everything looks great, we’ll both sign an agreement for our records, and you’ll make a 50% non-refundable deposit of the project investment to confirm the project start date.
Projects start with a competitive analysis to ensure you’re getting a leg up on the competition. This includes keywords, user-experience review, and app and integrations. We’ll review your recommended app list before UX recommendations are presented.
I’ll implement decisions based on the previous steps and share progress along the way with regular check-ins and approvals.
All implementations are tracked to ensure we’re moving towards your big picture goals. Post-launch training videos are supplied to easily manage your website into the future.
A Klaviyo expert is an email marketing specialist trained in the Klaviyo platform who builds automated flows, designs campaigns, and manages the segmentation and reporting that turn a Klaviyo account into a real revenue channel. As a Klaviyo Partner, I’ve spent 14+ years doing this work for beauty and wellness brands like Suki Skincare, Clean Program, Addison Rae Fragrance, FunkkOFF!, and Dr. Noze Best — and my clients typically see email revenue lift 30-50% within the first quarter.
You need a Klaviyo expert when your email program is underperforming, when your team doesn’t have bandwidth to run it, or when you’re launching a beauty or wellness brand and want email set up right from day one. Most brands come to me for one of three reasons: their welcome flow isn’t converting, their campaigns are inconsistent, or they’ve never built out the automation layer that Klaviyo is designed for.
It depends on your website traffic. Results are typically experienced quickly if you have a steady flow website users. Alternatively, if your website traffic is low or stale, results can take longer. Your main goal then will be to generate traffic to get them in your email ecosystem and convert them into customers.
Yes, I’m happy to be your ongoing support system. You could say the journey of launching a business and staying on board for what happens next has become my specialty. Retainers include routine updates, custom email campaigns, and a monthly strategy meeting.
Absolutely. Every project includes a set of short and sweet training videos so that you, or someone on your team, can confidently manage the account moving forward.
That is a definite YES! I believe no website is complete without an email sign up form and automated welcome flow.
A Klaviyo Audit starts at $1,950. A Klaviyo Build starts at $4,500 and takes six weeks. A Klaviyo Retainer starts at $3,800/month with a three-month minimum. Every engagement has fixed scope and fixed pricing — no hourly billing, no surprise change orders. Klaviyo’s own platform pricing is separate and scales with your list size (starting free for the first 250 contacts).
In my portfolio of beauty and wellness brands, a healthy Klaviyo open rate is 40-50% for welcome flows and 25-35% for campaigns. My clients average 65% on well-segmented campaigns — but that’s after we’ve cleaned the list and built proper segmentation. Anything below 20% for a welcome flow usually points to a deliverability or segmentation issue that needs to be fixed before anything else.
You can DIY basic Klaviyo setup — the UI is straightforward. What most founders can’t DIY is the strategy: which flows to build first, how to segment your list, what campaign cadence maximizes revenue without burning your list, and how to read the reports. That’s what a Klaviyo expert handles. If your brand is under $250K and you have time to learn, DIY is reasonable. Over $500K, the opportunity cost of learning is usually higher than the cost of hiring.
A Klaviyo Build takes six weeks from kickoff to launch. Week 1 is strategy and segmentation. Weeks 2-4 are flow builds — welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase, and win-back. Week 5 is campaign templates and testing. Week 6 is launch and QA. A 30-day optimization window is included after launch, so I’m still monitoring performance and tuning the flows for the first month you’re live.
An audit tells you what’s wrong and how to fix it — you leave with a prioritized 90-day plan you can implement yourself or hand to your team. A build is the implementation itself: I do the work of setting up your flows, templates, and segmentation from scratch. Brands that already have Klaviyo usually start with an audit. Brands starting from zero — or brands whose current setup is beyond repair — go straight to a build.
Klaviyo is significantly better than Flodesk and Mailchimp for ecommerce brands. Klaviyo integrates natively with Shopify, offers ecommerce-specific automation triggers (browse abandonment, back-in-stock, replenishment), and provides revenue-per-recipient reporting that Flodesk and Mailchimp don’t. If you’re running an ecommerce brand, migrating to Klaviyo is almost always worth it. Klaviyo Build engagements include migration as part of standard scope.
Yes — Klaviyo Build engagements include full Klaviyo account setup from scratch, plus migration from other email platforms (Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Attentive, and others) if you’re switching. As a Klaviyo Partner, setup and migration are part of standard scope. If you’re launching a brand new brand, we can have Klaviyo live and sending inside the first week of the engagement.
